Took some pictures of Colt and Erik with the Christmas tree... almost all of them blurred... When I got Colt to hold still, Erik would move.... when I got Erik to hold still, Colt would move to give Erik kisses. Ah I love my boys....

Let It Snow!

I had forgotten how much snow southern Michigan can get.... especially when you live within 1 mile of Lake Michigan so you get lake effect snow. Colt LOVES the snow. Poor puppy will probably go nuts when we get to El Paso, TX and it's hot all the time. Went out the other day and it snowed so hard that it was almost impossible to see Colt as he played. I think the only thing he would have likde better would have been to have my son out in the snow too instead of him staying inside warm. Here are some pictures of Colt playing in the snow....

I have a 10 month old son (Erik) who is crawling, standing up and just now learning how to walk. I also have Colt, my giant puppy (yes he still acts like one). Since Erik entered our lives, Colt has taken it upon himself to watch after Erik and be his protector. The only downside to this is that he loves to give my son kisses and his tongue is as big as my sons head so one lick and Erik is really wet.... but Erik loves the kisses. I've included some pictures of the two of them playing... they really are great together and I would love to add another ISSR Shiloh Shepherd to my family as I'm sure they would also get along great with my son.

Ok... Colt here. Mom has been too busy packing up my house to post anything to my blog site. Bad Momma! I got to go visit my Aunt Shima and Cousin Zanthe for the last time in October. I'm also going to miss visiting Zwanet and Henk. So perhaps the next visit they will fly to the United States to see me. While I was visiting we had a nice lady that takes pictures for a living come take a couple photos of me. They turned out pretty good but momma was mad at me that I tried eating grass and had it hanging from my mouth in most of the pictures. DOH! But momma said I could post the pretty pictures so here they are:

There are more pictures that the nice lady took posted to my flickr site... addie is on the right side of the screen someplace lol. I'll be leaving Germany and flying to Grandma's house in the US on the 11th of November. I get to live there until March so if I'm lucky I'll get to go visit all of my Shiloh friends that live in Michigan and nearby in Canada. Good thing momma got me my doggie passport that shows all of my shots! I will also be doing a long drive in March from Michigan to El Paso, TX. If there is anyone that wants us to stop and visit (or if we will be within a short distance so we can meet up) please email my momma. She is on the Shiloh Forum so you can reach her that way if you need to :-) Just do a search for Colt and Michigan and you'll find a post with momma's email in it. Netherlands

The last weekend in May, Colt and I went to visit his Aunt Shima and Cousin Zanthe in the Netherlands. We had a blast! Colt got to go walking with all of the Shilohs in the Netherlands once again. While we were there a lovely lady was available to take pictures of Colt. Liesbeth van den Hof took all of the following pictures of Colt. If I ever manage to get Colt back up to the Netherlands, I will contact her again to take pictures of Colt. For it being a rainy day, she managed to get some beautiful pictures of my pup. New Addition

In February I gave birth to a baby boy (Erik Alexander). This is the first infant that Colt has ever been introduced to. The first day he met Erik he held his ears against his head and his nose was sniffing overtime. After smelling Erik from head to toe, he put his ears up and gave the kid a lick on the face. Only thing is Colt's tounge is as big as Erik's head so his entire face got wet. Erik didn't even cry... just looked at Colt trying to figure out what he was. Colt has been Erik's protector since then. If Erik cries, Colt comes and gets us. If I tell him it's ok... he will go and get Mike since evidentally I don't listen well enough. One night when it was time for Erik's bottle, and Erik was voicing his desire for one quite loudly, Colt standing next to Erik turned and looked at me in the Kitchen and barked at me. Now it wasn't his outdoor bark, but a nice gentle indoor bark that was ment to get my attention. I looked at my husband (who had Erik) in the living room and said I think I just got told to hurry up by my dog. Colt must have figured I didn't hear him the first time so he walked up to the kitchen doorway, barked at me again, looked at Erik and then back at me. I told him I was getting the bottle and would bring it when it was done. Colt shook his head (where is the camera when you need it?) went back into the living room and waited for me to bring the bottle. Once Erik had the bottle and was quiet, Colt layed down and played with his toys. He is a really smart dog. When they say that Shilohs have a lot of intelligence they are telling the truth! I've attached a couple pics of Colt following my husband around... he has to make sure Erik has been taken care of correctly. Enjoy.

Winter Play

We actually got some snow here in Germany. Seems to keep comming and we get 2-3 inches every night. Colt LOVES the fact that there is snow covering the ground. Mike takes him out to run around the yard and play with his football and usually takes him walking before I wake up in the mornings. Today I actually got my pregnant self up and around and went out on the walk with them and took some pictures. The only thing I think Colt would have liked better would have been to have a doggie friend along to play. Instead he had to play with just dad as I was waddling along (baby is due in 1 1/2 weeks). I've posted a couple of the pics I took here and the rest I uploaded to Flickr (link is on the right had side of the blog). Will post again after the baby is born and show everyone how Colt is doing with the new addition to the family.

Netherlands Walk 2009

Colt, my husband Mike and I went to the Netherlands this past weekend and got to go walking with other ISSR Shiloh Shepherds and their owners. The ages of the dogs ranged from 9 weeks old to 6 years old. There were 3 boys (Colt - 18 months, Kazan - 1 year and Tibor - 9 weeks) and three girls (Shima - 18 months, Neomi - 6 years and Daytona - 5 years). The dogs all got along very well and had a great time! Colt's 1 Year Old

Colt turned 1 year old on April 21, 2009. I took him to the vet and he weighed in at 98 pounds (44 kg) and was 77 cm or 30.3 inches tall at the shoulders. Using the 1-2-3 rule, he should grow an additional 2 inches and gain 30 pounds between now and the time he turns 3. (He should end up around 32 inches and 130 pounds by age 3.)

Colt and I went to the Netherlands at the beginning of the month to meet with Shima (Colt's half-aunt) and Zwanet & Henk (Shima's owners). We had a fun time, and it was amazing to see how Colt had grown. Owning Colt it is hard to tell when he grows as I am always around him and for some reason always think he is small. As you can see by the photos, he is far from being small.

Colt was taken in on the 24th of April and had his hips x-rayed. It will take roughly 2-3 weeks to get the results after PenHipp receives them in the states. As soon as I find out his results I will let everyone know. The vet taking the x-rays did say that he didn't see any problems and that the results should show that Colt has great hips.

Hi Everyone!

Sorry I've been busy and haven't posted in awhile. Colt visited the vet on Thursday, February 12th and weighed in at 100 pounds! Rough measuring by me puts him around 29" and still growing! He's one beautiful puppster. Here are some current pics of him:

Yes, I know that Cot has some pink spots on his nose. It is not discoloration. Colt likes to push EVERYTHING around with his nose. He managed to hurt it pushing something around. The spots are healing and with time will hopefully turn back to black.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures. I will attempt to get more pictures of Colt once it warms up outside some. It's hard to find someone willing to take our picture together when its so cold out. Thanks for visiting Colt's Blogsite!

6 Months Old

Colt turned 6 months old today (24 weeks). On Thursday he weighed in at the vets at 74lbs. He is growing so fast that it is hard to believe he used to be a little fuzzball. Colt and I went to the Netherlands this past weekend to visit Shima, Daytona and Neomi. Here are some pictures of Colt at 6 months.

Fun Outside

Colt is now 13 1/2 weeks old. He was weighed on Thursday and is up to 38.6 pounds. He's my growing boy!

I managed to get some pictures of Colt playing outside. He has 2 balls that he likes to play with. One is a blue one with holes in it and another ball inside of it and his other ball is a soccer ball that has a handle on it to make it easier for people to throw. Colt see's the handle as his personal way to carry the large ball.

On Saturday after a long walk, I decided to put up the doggie pool I bought Colt so the water could warm up. I got about 2 1/2 inches of water in and he decided that he needed to go in with the water still cold. Course he was cooking from the walk so he loved it!

Look everyone! I can apply to be on the greeting cards that have the big dog heads with the little bodies!

One of the discussions I've been reading lately talks about how to tell if your pup will lighten up or stay dark as they grow older. Tina Barber (The Breed Founder) says it's all in the pups feet. If they look like they have been dipped in ink, the pup will stay dark. So here are some picks of my pups feet at 13 weeks.... maybe I'll get lucky and she can look at my pups feet and tell me if that is what she means by being dipped in ink.

Finally Home

Colt flew from Seattle, Washington to Kalamazoo, Michigan on July 2nd. We stayed at "Grandma's" house (my parents) until the 5th and then flew out of K-Zoo to Frankfurt, Germany. After all the fuss to get paperwork done to pass customs, there wasn't even anyone there and we walked straight thru with Colt in tow. 2 hours later, we arrived at home and started getting Colt settled into his new home. In these pictures, Colt is 11 weeks old.

Here's Colt enjoying his new 54" pillow and Pelican Rope Toy.... His ears are both up in this picture. His left ear (the right facing him) still flops some depending on how he holds his head. I am sure both will be up for good prior to him turning 6 months old. They might flop some more when he starts getting his adult teeth.

Colt is crashed after a short 15 minute walk in the morning and a longer 30 minute walk around noon. Of course the only reason the walks took so long was that we sniffed everything and had water breaks on the way.
